Parkeergarage Westersluis, Amsterdam

De Parkeergarage aan de Haarlemmerweg biedt plaats aan 500 auto's. Alhoewel de opdracht bestond uit het ontwerpen van een gevel rondom een eerder ontworpen utilitaire structuur, bleek het door de structuur op een handige manier om te vormen mogelijk, een hele verdieping te laten vervallen. De hoogte sluit door deze ingreep aan op de  gevelwand langs de Haarlemmerweg. In de vormgeving is aansluiting gezocht op het ornamentele metselwerk van de naastgelegen voormalige maggifabriek. 

500 cars can be parked in this building. Although the commission actually comprised just the design of a facade around an industrial parking building. A closer look at this structure made it possible to make just 4 instead if 5 storeys, maintaining the same amount of parking spaces. This saved costs, but also made it possible to design a building much more in harmony with its art deco neighbor. The brickwork of this neighbor was a starting point for the design of the buildings' brickwork facade.
